At the end of August, over 100 guests attended a very special art auction at the beautiful Hoeve Boeretang in Dessel, Belgium. Art lovers, family, friends, partners of the Fund and other guests came together with one common goal: to support the groundbreaking research of Dr Marlies Gijs into the detection of Alzheimer’s disease using lacrimal fluid. The auction raised over 22,000 euros: a wonderful amount!
Marlies Gijs: “Art has always had the power to inspire people, to connect them and to stimulate social change. Last night we united these forces in a shared goal. The works were created with care and passion and donated by the artists to support the research. In addition to art and aesthetics, the evening was about solidarity and commitment. I hope that the artworks that the guests took home with them are a lasting symbol of the positive change that we can achieve together.”
We would like to thank everyone involved for this special evening! Despite this wonderful contribution, additional funding is still needed to realise the research. Please donate to a new Alzheimer’s diagnosis method via umcrowd.nl.
