CoBes funding for UM staff – apply by 23rd May!

Grants for students

At the University Fund Limburg (UFL) we want to reward good initiatives from students for students. These initiatives contribute to a thriving university community. That is why the UFL provides annual grants (called CooSa) specifically for activities by UM students.

Grants for students

How and when can you apply for a subsidy?

All students at Maastricht University can apply for a subsidy (called CooSa). You can apply for a subsidy for activities that are organised for and by students, are new or special, are of lasting significance to the university community, promote a sense of community, or officially represent the UM, both at home and abroad.

Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and send it to apply for a grant.

Important!

Before you submit a grant application, it is important to check whether your project is eligible for a grant. Below you will find the conditions and requirements:

What do you need to know?

  • The UFL’s commitments always take the form of guarantee subsidies. This means that if the actual costs are lower than the contribution promised by the UFL, no more than the actual costs will be paid out.
  • In principle, the UFL only supports the start-up of new activities once. Sometimes an exception is made for a second time, in the first two years.
  • The subsidy is only paid after the event, provided that all financial conditions have been met:
    • All expenses and income must be accounted for in a single spreadsheet.
    • All expenses must be demonstrated with copies of receipts and/or invoices (e.g. from the florist) in a single PDF file. Invoices may not be in the name of the applicant.
    • Payment can only be made to a private IBAN account number or UM budget number. A self-employed person’s bank account number is not permitted.
    • Artists (e.g. musicians) and professional athletes must submit a so-called ‘opting-out agreement’, accompanied by a copy of their ID. This obligation lies with the ‘hirer’, i.e. the applicant of the activity.

Deadlines for grant applications:

1st round: 28 February 2025
2nd round: 24 October 2025

Please note: applications after the deadline or incomplete applications will not be considered. They can be resubmitted in a subsequent round.

When will you be notified?

You will receive a written result within a week after the meeting of the Student Activities Support Committee (CooSa). The meeting dates in 2025 are:

  • 13 November
