At the University Fund Limburg, we greatly value the lasting relationships we build with our alumni. Many alumni look back fondly on their time as students at UM. Inspired by this sense of connection and gratitude, they are keen to contribute to the continued development of their alma mater. Last week, we were delighted by a special visit from the United States. Robbert Rietbroek, alumnus of the School of Business and Economics, visited his former faculty at Tongersestraat together with his family – the place where the foundations for his impressive international career were laid.
With visible enthusiasm, he showed his family around the buildings where he once attended lectures, studied and took his first steps towards his professional future. As he reminisced about his time in Maastricht, he was able to show his family where it all began for him: from ambitious student to global CEO. Robbert is the CEO of Graphic Packaging Holding Company (NYSE: GPK), a publicly listed company on the New York Stock Exchange that manufactures packaging for food, beverages and other consumer products. Over the course of his career, Robbert has gained more than 25 years of management experience at P&G, Kimberly-Clark, PepsiCo and Primo Water Corporation, working across the US, Europe, Australia and South America.
Although Rietbroek has lived thousands of kilometres away in the United States for many years, his connection with Maastricht has remained strong. He has taken part in alumni events and shared his knowledge and experience with students. He is also involved with the University Fund Limburg and contributes to UM projects addressing pressing societal challenges. As a Fund, we are proud of our relationship and collaboration with our inspiring alumni community. It was wonderful to finally meet Robbert in person in Maastricht after many online interactions over the years. Our doors are always open to our ambassadors and alumni!
