Chair Solberg-Verlinden

In June 2020, a new special chair was established at Maastricht University that will develop and implement concrete instruments for assessing the social-emotional skills of pupils between the ages of 10 and 14.

This endowed chair is managed by the Limburg University Fund and will be coordinated for at least five years by Professor Trudie Schils of Maastricht University (0.2 FTE). She is also programme leader of the Limburg Educational Agenda.

In honour of the late Mr. Solberg

The funding for this chair comes from the former Solberg-Verlinden Foundation. This foundation was established in the past by the late Mr. J.W. Solberg, the first director of the Cito (the Dutch central institute for testing and development), and his wife. This special chair aims to uphold the ideas of the late Mr. Solberg – namely objectivity in the assessment of study results – and to expand these to include social-emotional skills, which are increasingly important for a successful (educational) career.
