Mark Post Research Fund

The Mark Post Research Fund aims to support scientific research and education in the specific field of tissue engineering for medical and food purposes. The Mark Post Research Fund strives to achieve this goal by providing financial resources for research into medical and food applications of tissue engineering at Maastricht University.

A notable example of tissue engineering is the research conducted by Prof. Dr. Mark Post and his research group at Maastricht University into the cultivation and future production of cultured beef. On 15 November 2013, Prof. Post won the World Technology Award in the Environment category at the World Technology Award gala in New York. He received the award for developing the world’s first cultured beef burger. The award is presented to individuals and companies responsible for new technologies with the most significant impact on the future.
