In this context, various ‘influencers’ of long-term vision and business decision-making will be examined, such as the role of business regulation, business culture and the role of management, as well as external shareholders. Particular attention will be paid to the role of institutional investors (with a focus on asset owners) and private investors.
Broadview Holding BV, Q-Park, De Nederlandsche Bank, ING Bank NV and DSM are funding the Peter Elverding Chair in Sustainable Business, Culture and Corporate Regulation.
The main objective of this chair is to anchor the legacy of Mr Peter Elverding and his contribution to the development of Maastricht University, the Institute of Corporate Law, the Governance and Innovation Policies (ICGI) research group, and Dutch business in general.
The chair will strengthen Maastricht University’s existing sustainability profile and business/corporate regulation, both internationally and in Europe. This will be achieved through academic research and by encouraging initiatives around innovative ways of teaching that bring together different disciplines. This leads to the third objective of this chair: to stimulate interdisciplinary research and education, and in doing so to promote cooperation between the Faculty of Law and the School of Business and Economics through collaboration between the research institutes ICGI (LAW) and ECCE (SBE).
The chair holders are Prof. Dr. Rob Bauer from the School of Business and Economics and Prof. Dr. Mieke Olaerts from the Faculty of Law (see image).
