Women are largely the figureheads of healthy families and therefore of society. Precisely because cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death among Dutch women, it deserves our full attention. Scientists at Maastricht University are conducting research into previously unrecognised but widely known risk factors for cardiovascular disease that are responsible for these problems. This requires financial resources in addition to regular research funding. Help from benefactors is very welcome to support this research financially.
“Early recognition and timely preventive treatment of underlying problems before, during and after pregnancy are therefore central to a healthy future for women, children, families and society.”
– Patient Council for Pre-Eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome
The Patient Council was established to align scientific goals with the needs of those affected. The members of the committee are Elly Arts, Jessica Coumou and Michael van der Steen.
“Becoming a healthy mother and staying healthy in the short and long term are prerequisites for giving mothers, children and families a fruitful future. The Queen of Hearts Fund facilitates research into this!”
– Marc Spaanderman, Gynaecologist and Perinatologist, MUMC+
Expenditures from the Queen of Hearts Fund for the intended scientific research will be assessed by a committee of experts affiliated with this fund. The members of the committee are:
