With this motto, Mayor Ryan Palmen of the municipality Horst aan de Maas presented two Noord-Limburg Region Scholarships to young talents on 22 December 2021. The scholarships were presented on behalf of the municipalities in the Noord-Limburg region and in the presence of Bouwien Janssen (director of UFL-SWOL) and Greetje Lep (strategic advisor/project leader for the municipality of Horst aan de Maas).
Students Gijs Huijbers and Sofie van Hoek, who are studying ‘Global Supply Chain Management and Change’ and ‘Health Food Innovation Management’, respectively, were born and raised in Noord-Limburg. Both are very confident that they will find a place to live and work in their ‘own’ region after their studies. During a pleasant exchange with the students, Mr Palmen highlighted the economic growth opportunities for the healthiest region and the important role that both the students will have as future employees, entrepreneurs or innovators. And should the students need help later on, they can always reach out to Ms. Lep or the mayor!
