Jassim Aba Al-Khail Fund

A donation from Dr Mohammed Aba Al-Khail to Maastricht University has led to the establishment of the Jassim Aba Al-Khail Fund under the University Fund Limburg. The fund is named after his deceased son, a former student at the Faculty of Law. With this donation, Dr Mohammed Aba Al-Khail wants to encourage the law faculty to support first-year students through a mentoring and monitoring project.

Mission

The fund’s mission is to strengthen the community and improve the academic success of first-year law students at Maastricht University through mentoring, monitoring and other support activities.

Spending committee

At the request of the Faculty of Law, a three-member committee decides on the allocation of financial resources from the fund. At the time of its establishment, the committee consisted of:

• Mr. Prof. Dr. J. Smits (Dean Faculty of Law);
• Mr. Dr. S. Claessens (Director of Education, Faculty of Law);
• Ms. E. Meurgey (alumna, Faculty of Law).

The University Fund Limburg and the Faculty of Law have concluded an internal agreement regarding the procedures of the fund.
