With the arrival of the Knowledge Transfer Office, Maastricht University has taken a further step towards an integral knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship policy. The stimulation of entrepreneurship has thus become one of the four pillars of the UM Knowledge Transfer Office, alongside ‘Knowledge Cooperation’, ‘Technology Transfer’ and ‘Knowledge Dissemination’.
The step towards this broader vision has also been anchored academically with the establishment of the chair ‘Knowledge Transfer and University Venturing’.
It is expected that third parties and companies will want to contribute to this endeavour. For this reason, too, it has been decided to establish a registered fund within the Limburg University Fund, which is focused on this specific objective and is available for donations from these third parties.
Objectives of the fund
The Knowledge Transfer Fund has the following specific objectives:
- to enable and support the chair of ‘Knowledge Transfer and University Venturing’
- to support the academic development of the domains ‘Knowledge Transfer’, ‘Knowledge Cooperation’; ‘Technology Transfer’, ‘Knowledge Dissemination’, ‘Entrepreneurship’ and ‘University Venturing’ in a broad sense;
- supporting education in the field of knowledge transfer and venturing in the broadest sense.
Spending committee
The Knowledge Transfer Fund has an advisory committee that advises on spending aimed at the above objectives. The Advisory Committee consists of at least three members, namely:
- Mr. Prof. Dr. J. Cobbenhagen, professor at the UM;
- Mr. J. Lamkin, entrepreneur;
- Mr. B. Wesly, entrepreneur.
